The Album

Kamila recorded her debut album Padam Padam at The Premises London, in 2012. Padam Padam features 11 of the most beautiful French chansons made famous by artists such as Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Yves Montand and Juliette Greco. Kamila’s deep and powerful voice recreates the 1940’s atmosphere of the songs that became evergreens of French music and culture.

In ‘Paris’ and ‘Sous Le Ciel De Paris’ she caresses with a soft and nostalgic voice, whereas in ‘La Foule’ or the title song, ‘Padam Padam’, the songs become alive through the energy and dynamic of her vocal range. De Paris’ she caresses with a soft and nostalgic voice, whereas in ‘La Foule’ or the title song, ‘Padam Padam’, the songs become alive through the energy and dynamic of her vocal range. She sings Piaf’s anthem ‘La Vie En Rose’ and ‘Les Feuilles Mortes’ full of romance and heartache, and performs beautifully tragic interpretations of Piaf’s ‘Mon Dieu’ and Brel’s ‘Quand On N’a Que L’Amour’.

The jolly ‘Milord’, ‘L’Accordioniste’ and ‘Mon Amant De St.Jean’ show once again the variety of styles in Kamila’s singing. She remains authentic and dedicated to each of the songs throughout the album. Accordion and voice complement each other very well, under which piano, bass and drums lay down a solid ground without letting the voice lose the lead – for the storytelling is of paramount importance in French Chanson!
